Hey Kit! I saw you left RDU (boo!) and moved to PDX! While I'll miss having an awesome person like you in NC, I know you've been super jazzed to go. Random question: Did you ever go to the Ultimate Comics' ladies' book club? I was at the store the other day and got invited to go but I wasn't really sure what it's like so I figured I'd ask you. Enjoy Portland! Come back to HeroesCon and visit! electricsheepcrochet

hey, i hope it’s cool that i answer this publicly for triangle area people’s reference!

i did not ever get a chance to go to the ladies’ book club (i wanted to! ball drop) BUT i’ve met several of the ladies who were involved with that while i was in the area and can attest that they are awesome. also as i recall their selections for reading were really good. first sex criminals trade was one when it first came out; still bummed i missed that one.

ANYWAY YES DO IT i am jealous of you but do it

and thank you!!!!! so much :’) PDX IS A DELIGHT, it very much feels like where i’m supposed to be right now. heroescon is a probability this next year though! and let me know if you are getting out to any pnw cons!

Very cool! I’ll make sure to go next month for the Locke and Key discussion.

LED/LilyPad update: it worked. I’ve managed to create this little blue demon head whose eyes glow red when I flick the switch on the side of his head. I’m so stoked! It looks super creepy. I want to make a thousand demons, put them everywhere in my home, turn off the lights, and creep out people who come visit me. Too bad I only have one kit and I have to use again for my state fair entry.

…..Well, maybe I’ll get few more lilypads afterwards to make my demon army for Halloween.

Stay tuned, bigger and badder things are on the horizon.

Finally got around to winding half of my yarn stash with my jumbo ball winder. It looks SO much better than before. It’s all neat and I have more space for yarn than I did before.

Just ordered an e-textile kit, some LEDs, and some conductive thread for a crocheting project. Things are going to get technological up in here you guys. I can’t wait for stuff to get here so I can go mad scientist on all of this fun stuff.

(For real I just want to make things glow in the dark, okay?)

So I crocheted brimpers for Chip Zdarsky and Matt Fraction for HeroesCon and this happened. I’ll write more later tonight because OMG you guyyys.

Knit brimpage

Little crocheted boobs.
I didn’t know that would make me so happy, but it did.
Thank you for unexpected happiness over little yarn boobies electricsheepcrochet.

HAHAHA You are so very welcome. I’m here to please. Or creep out. Whichever works.

Oh man, today was a whirlwind. I don’t even know where to start. Let’s go with the obvious: I crocheted two dolls brimping for Chip Zdarsky and Matt Fraction for HeroesCon. Let’s allow that sink in for a minute because that might be the weirdest sentence I’ve ever written.

Why did I do this? I feel this obligation to say thanks to people who create comics that really impact me. (Last year, I made Matt a Tong and Kelly Sue a Captain Marvel.) Sex Criminals is one of those comics because it does an amazing job exploring sexuality in a hilarious, honest, and poignant way. My boyfriend half-jokingly suggested I crochet brimpers and being the fucked-up person I am, I said “Yes, perfect”. They were put in a paper bag labeled “Totally Not Porn” (see above) because I wanted to hide them from the kids running around the con and this seemed like the perfect delivery method.

I had some concerns that this was maybe not going to go over great because it was so weird and fucked up. But Chip and Matt could not have reacted more beautifully. They were so nice, hilarious, and great sports about the whole thing. THEY EVEN BROUGHT THEM TO THE PANEL IN THE BROWN PAPER BAG. You can see them in the (shitty) photo above. Matt even mentioned something about them being in the letters column in an upcoming issue?? I have no idea, the whole moment was a total joyful hilarious blur. All I know is they were unbelievable. I’m still in awe.

Matt and Chip - I love you guys non-ironically too. Daniel and I are totally DTF. Thank you so much for embracing such a weird gift and more more importantly, thank you for making an amazing book.

For those asking - Yes, I do take commissions, for brimpers or otherwise. If you’re interested, send me a message here on Tumblr.

So I joined in a myths and monsters themed shoot with the Carolina D20 girls at Castle McCulloch in Jamestown, NC. I decided to go with Thalia, the Greek muse of comedy, because she felt like the best for my personality. I couldn’t find a comedy mask so I used a masquerade mask and decorated it so it was comedy inspired. I painted it gold and added “hahaha” along the edge in puff paint. I’d love to go back and redo some of it when I have time to make it more dramatic.

The rest of the cosplay is super simple. I made a chiton using some cheap pink cotton fabric. I finished it the morning of so it’s pretty wonky. It’s pinned together at my shoulders like they they were actually worn so I felt nervous all day it was going to fall. I tied some rope trim around my waist and hair. Hello lazy cosplay!

The photo was taken by the amazing Starrfall Photography who managed to make my half ass efforts look great. She’s the best.
