Oh my god that is an amazing idea!
So I’ve decided to withdraw from competing this year at the State Fair. Honestly, I’ve fallen very behind (due to me being a complete slacker) and if I rush it, it’s going to show. There’s no point in submitting something to a competition when I know it’s not my best. Besides I’d rather hold off and submit something truly badass.
It just isn’t worth rushing. If I want to take 1st prize, I need to submit something worthy of it and you don’t get that by cutting corners.
I don’t like quitting things but I’m just not willing to deal with the stress this year.
Last year, I was up till 4 am finishing Sir Walter Raleigh for the State Fair Competition the night before the last day to submit entries.
This year, I swore, “Never Again.”
It is now Oct. 7 and the deadline for entries to the State Fair are due Oct. 14 at noon. I have the torso, the legs, and the basic head done and nothing else.
I think it’s time to change “Never Again” to “Oh no, not again.”
So Vladimir is a Russian bear who lives in my town. He asked me to change his catchphrase so of course, I had to do “bro, seriously” ala Hawkeye. I can’t stop laughing every time he comes to visit. I just need to get him to wear some sunglasses and a track suit.
Say what you want, but all I see is…dragon scale gloves.
omggg i was gonna do crocodile stitch soft gradient legwarmers for djefa/canopim characters but I wasn’t sure how it’d turn out but tHESE LOOK SO COOL I WANNA DO IT AGAIN.
DO IT! Crocodile stitch is so much fun! Which reminds me, I really need to work on my scarf again. >_>
OH MY GLOB!!!!!
So here’s what I’ve been up to for the past month - making my rockabilly LSP cosplay for Dragon*Con. This costume was a lot of firsts: first time making a dress on my own, first time styling and cutting a wig, and the first time I actually didn’t have to finish a costume the night before the con. Everything is done and ready to go. I couldn’t be more proud and excited.
I made the dress entirely on my own with a lot advice from Liz, Chiki, and Scottie. The wig was also styled by me with some assistance from Chiki. The can of beans purse was made by Daniel because he is an amazing boyfriend.
More pictures to come!!
Hey, it’s the Tong I gave Fraction back at HeroesCon in June. Cool! (I am so glad that bow stayed on. I was convinced it wouldn’t last.)
On a related note: I hear Matt’s leaving FF and Fantastic Four due to time commitments. It’s a bummer but he’s working on so many projects and he’s got 2 young kids and a wife so it’s completely understandable something would eventually have to give.
To be honest, I probably wouldn’t have given either series a shot if I hadn’t already been a fan of Fraction’s work on Hawkeye. Also, the Talking Comics Podcast kept raving about them. I’m really glad I did because they have been two of my favorite comics this year. I’ll really miss him on both but he has had an amazing run. They’re been hilarious, fresh, interesting, and most of all, fun. Thanks for the wild ride, Matt. Can’t wait to read your other stuff!
